Slovakia's accession to the EU: A return to the west or a seized opportunity?

This year, 18 years have passed since the moment Slovakia became a member of the European Union. Currently, Slovakia is a long-time member of the Union, however, this status has not always been self-evident. At the turn of millennia, Slovakia was in the middle of an accession process, which was marked with success, as well as problems. This bachelor thesis focuses on the accession process of Slovakia to the European Union in the years 1994-2004. Using theoretical principles of constructivism and post-structuralism, the author is analysing nominalisation and predicalisation of the European Union in Slovak public discourse based on two logical principles - logic of expected consequences and logic of appropriateness. Furthermore, this thesis focuses on which of these logical approaches was prevalent in the public discourse. Author works with materials from political and media sphere from a given period. The first part of the thesis focuses on the theoretical and methodological background necessary for the analysis. In the following part, author describes historical context of the period. In the empirical chapter, author analyses chosen relevant materials. In the last part of the thesis, author provides answers to research questions.
Constructivism in Organic Chemistry Nomenclature Education

Organic chemistry nomenklature is one of the most importatnt matter of chemistry education. Its last change occured in 1993. The available high school chemistry textbooks, which have been analized, deal with nomenclature very briefly. They use the instructive educational approach which is mostly based on deduction. However, it is contrary to the contemporary attitude of education. This is the substantiation for creating the alternative procedure and verifying the availability in practice. This work presents two worksheets that deal with the introduction of the organic chemistry nomenclature. This is the substantiation of creating the alternative procedure and verifying the availability practice. This metodology has been assesed by teachers of grammar schools. Due to the reactions, the material was positively evaluated not only by students but also by teachers themselves. Remarks acquired by piloting were incorporated into the material and can therefore be tested on a larger representative sample.

Firstly, the development of chemistry education from the beginnings of the Czech schooling system until present is briefly described. Further, currently the most widely discussed methods used in Science education eventually Chemistry were defined based on the analysis of scientific literature and other available electronic resources. These methods are briefly characterized; an evaluation of the possibility of their usage in teaching practice in terms of Czech schools is made not only with regards to the educational reality in schools, but also with respect to the law (Framework Educational Programmes). Why the Czech Republic postponed adoption of the euro currency?

The diploma thesis is devoted to explanation of Czech position towards European monetary integration. Even though Czechia is committed to adopt euro, the official term has not been set. The main purpose of a thesis is to answer why the Czech Republic postponed entrance into to eurozone indefinitely. The first chapter applies materialistic aspects of liberal intergovernmentalist theory into the Czech context by analysing economic interests on micro and macro level. Detailed cost-benefit analysis results in a slight favour of entrance. However, valid economic arguments on both sides and lack of interest group pressure allow government to adopt waiting strategy. Second analytical part incorporates constructivist theory, particularly defines Czech national identity and its effect on public opinion on eurozone. The thesis refuses exclusive character of the Czech identity and its ability to fully explain postponement of euro adoption. Thesis main contribution to international relation research is final chapter, which extends traditional integration theories by perspective of ideology. Historical and geopolitical limits of mutual relations between Slovakia and Hungary

The thesis deals with bilateral relation of Slovakia and Hungary in terms of collective identities. Partial objective of the thesis is to explain Slovak-Hungarian relations from the perspective of constructivist theories and identity perspective. As a consequence both actors perceive historical development of the Central European area and common history differently. The main aim of the thesis is to research the nature of policy of Slovak government towards Hungarian minority living in Slovakia, as well as how this policy affects Slovak - Hungarian bilateral relations. Regarding the hypotheses, we believe that the Slovakia-Hungarian relations are strongly influenced by the structure of Slovak and Hungarian identity and the perception of other side as "the other" (another, foreign, enemy), resulting in a different understanding of the historical development of the Central European area and common history. Currently it expresses itself mostly in different attitudes and opinions on the issue of territory, respectively the border between Slovak republic and Hungary, and the status and rights of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia. Theoretical Reflection of the Institutional Design of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU after the Adoption of the Lisbon Treaty

The topic of this thesis is a theoretical analysis of the institutional design of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) after the adoption of the Lisbon treaty. The main aim of the thesis is to reveal the reasons explaining a development towards centralization of the policy-making process of the CFSP that the Lisbon treaty introduced. Centralization is equated with a delegation of sovereignty from member states to a supranational level - High Representative for the CFSP/European External Action Service. The thesis for this purpose tests three possible explanations built upon three main theories of international relations: the centralisation as a result of the 1.decreasing EU's relative military power (neorealism) 2.deteriorating collaborative problems (neoliberalism) and 3.increasing degree of Europeanization of the nation-state identities and interests of the member states (constructivism) within covered time period from 2001 to 2007. The thesis applies a qualitative method, it is a case study. Interactive lessons on quadratic equations, inequalities and quadratic functions of the Technical lyceum

In my thesis I deal with quadratic equation, inequality and quadratic function and their teaching with using computer and interactive whiteboard. The thesis is devided into two parts, theoretical one and practical one. In the theoretical part I deal with motivation to learning, constructivism, rating the teaching materials and interactivity in the school surrounding. I state my conclusions from lessons, where I used the prepaired worksheets with secondary vocational school students. The practical part includes my own created worksheets for teaching with interactive whiteboard and their use in teaching on a secondary vocational school.

The diploma thesis covers points, line segments, lines and half-lines, angles, circles, triangles and their teaching through computers and interactive whiteboards. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The first one covers motivation for learning, constructivism, evaluation of teaching materials and interactivity in school environment. The practical part contains worksheets for teaching with an interactive whiteboard created by the author of the thesis and their use in Year Six of primary and lower-secondary schools. In the conclusion the author mentions his observations gained during his own teaching practice.
